I’ve been along for the ride, with my daughter & her fiance who are planning their October wedding. I’m pretty knowledgeable about who is great at what they do in this industry of wedding events and flowers.
I’m here to tell you, that now I realize that it’s not as easy as it looks. There are so many great vendors out there, and the key to finding the one, was finding the one that fits with you and your style. I can’t tell you how many fantastic photography sites I have spent night after night going through and studying. My daughter kept asking for my opinion, but I couldn’t give her an answer. It’s just such a personal thing. After many months of searching they finally made the choice…
They previewed so many photographers and they loved all of them! What the deciding factor came down to was not price, not the packages that they offered, or the extras, it came down to the person they felt who had made an emotional connection with them and left them feeling confident that the person would be willing to put out the extra effort to capture the spirit of their big day and share with the world who they are as a couple! It takes a ton of work to get to know someone, but how else can you make them shine on their big day? I’m looking forward to seeing the artistic results and how they capture my daughter & her fiance’s personality! Should be some great pictures coming…

Congratulations to your daughter and her fiance and to you! My son and his new wife just received their wedding photos. They were married on a Caribbean beach in January and everything was arranged by a wedding planner, even the photographer. The photos all turned out beautifully, which was lucky because the couple put no thought into the photographer at all and hadn’t met anyone before they arrived in St. John. It was a quick ceremony with only immediate family, and there were only 75 professional photos in all. The photographer didn’t go to the wedding brunch, so we have no professional photographs from that. My son and his wife are having a reception at the end of March, and I don’t know what they are going to do about photographs there. They had me take their engagement photos.
As for my daughter! She and her now husband (both artists and musicians) had a vision of what they wanted for their engagement and wedding and reception photos. (They were married in September 2010) They didn’t meet with many photographers but chose the style of photography they wanted from the online websites and luckily they felt the one photographer they did meet would be a good fit with them. They got about 4,000 photographs from the engagement, pre-wedding, wedding and reception, plus a video from a videographer.
I had wanted photographs of everyone at each table at the reception, but that wasn’t important to my daughter and her husband, so there are a lot of wedding guests who aren’t in their wedding photos. They did have a photo booth, and those who went to that are well documented. Again congratulations and I can’t wait to see photographs from your daughter’s wedding, especially the flowers!
