I get asked by brides all the time what flowers they can use that are blue in color, In the past I have always had to say that nature doesn’t make many blue flowers.  Now, the science of flowers is changing all that.  Flower Biology is taking place, and they are doing genetic modification, to add back the fragrance that they bred out, adding genes to increase cut flower life span, and as this article points out, genetically attempting to get a certain color…blue, which has in the past been elusive in the natural flower world unless you used dye.  It’s an amazing science,  while I’m sure they will be pretty and smell nice, I’m just glad that I don’t have to eat these genetic experiments.  🙂 http://discovermagazine.com/2004/apr/biology-of-flowers
